For The Love Of The Beat.

"For the love of music, for the love beat..."

This is the band's drive and motivation as they recorded their songs, compiled it in a CD and eventually launched their Deep City Lights album last June 11th of this year.

The Liberty Jam, a four-piece band composed of Nescel on guitars, Stephen on bass, Paolo on drums and Kewpee as vocals (with Benjo filling in Kewpee's absentia), was born on May 9, 2008 (with Borgy and Fred originally on bass and drums, respectively). These guys, who share the same passion and love towards music, wrote their own song lyrics and made its rhythms to come up with original compositions depicting their individual experiences, as well as the band's struggle to differ from what's already the fad and be authentic. It took them a year to write all the 8 tracks of unique sounds and melody, played these in local gigs and also got invitations to share their sounds not only in the confines of Iloilo alone but also in Aklan, Negros and Cebu. Having a lot of friends have always been their advantage because they have gained crowds during jam sessions and have eventually become their loyal supporters, a major help in the selling out of their album.

Not having a lot of financial resources, this has never been a hindrance with TLJ to record their songs. Every single penny came from their not-so abundant pockets. Some even had to do manual labor just to help in the recording. And it doesn't matter. Again, "for the love of music", coupled with prayers and support from their friends (who stayed up late with them during the recording process and provided them whatever they needed), sacrificing having to spend Christmas and New Year's with their very own loved ones, just to make everything fall in the right places -- TLJ's will and determination is, without a doubt, very remarkable.

TLJ did not make their music to be popular or to be envied by others. As far as they are concerned, they have never took advantage of anyone just to make it to where they are now. Someone who knows the real story behind these guys' hardwork and sacrifices would definitely be inspired by them. TLJ made their music to uplift Ilonggo's music scene, to represent the Ilonggos, and most importantly, to inspire other Ilonggo bands that they too can prove themselves worthy to be called musicians and artists and not merely "just another band doing a cover of another band's songs".

Despite the band's status right now, they have remained humble and continued pursuing for the best by rehearsing every chance they get in order to improve on their craft and deliver the best performances during gigs. Mr. Manager, Patrick Mabilog sees to it that disciple is imposed during practice hours (lates are not tolerated).

Because of the album launching's turn-out, TLJ is now inspired to compose their new set of songs and strive for the best to cater their supporter's and listener's needs. Hopefully, they will be able to release their next album soon (in a year or two), with fingers crossed and with prayers addressed to the Almighty.

hello fellow earthlings!

we the liberty jam, are very grateful for all the opportunities that have been knocking on our door. we are very much enthusiastic with all of the grace that the music industry is offering us. we are also thankful for all of the production, teams, and people who have helped us along the way and until now. recently, we have played in some events in which helped us be known to others and share our music with them and we are much willing to continue sharing our music and uplifting the sound of the ilonggos. we also give a hand salute to all of our critics. Thank you very much for inspiring us. this is a big help in pursuing our main goals as a band and as a group of friends. there are some critics in which, in way, may have hurt our feelings but this doesn't mean that we are giving up the fight and we are against them. we are not that insensitive not to see, hear and feel that there are others who are trying to pull us down. Still, we thank these guys for they are the reason why we are trying to build a very strong foundation for our next step. we have released our first album successfully, thanks to all of our supporters, colleagues, friends and even our own selves.
we are doing this not for fame and money but, we are doing this for this is our passion and we believe that we should share our passion with others. this is for the love of the beat. the love of music.

you will be our inspiration, we will be your inspiration. :)

TLJ: Bustin' a Move, and Bustin' a Sweat.

Summer is here and everyone expects us to be out having a great time at beaches, kissing waves and watching babes.

We haven't though.

We've been working.
Working on our music, on our album, on our love life ( applicable only to Paolo, Nescel and Benjo. haha)

But seriously, if you've been wondering where TLJ has been these past few weeks, we've been around, contacting people from Cebu City and working with personalities, organizations and other bands as well.

By the way before anything else, we want to make special shout outs to the people who have helped us out lately and very significantly to add to that:

Sir Ian Zafra for the wisdom and support you have shared to us. We consider you to be a mentor beyond compare.
Roy Sevilla Ho for your wonderful insights and one of a kind perspective.
Nong Natz for making sure that the album output comes out the best way it possibly can.

This afternoon we just finished another mixing session. We really want to make this album work out well, not only for ourselves, but for you guys, so you too can keep enjoying our music as much as we enjoy playing them.

here are some snapshots.

Thank you guys for your undying love and support. Char. Peace!

Work Hard. Party Harder : This Is How The Liberty Jam Rolls.

by B.Consing

"Having coined the term the “Love Beat”, the group’s passion for music carries on to spread the so-called beat not only to its family and friends, but as well as to its growing number of fans and supporters."

Who would’ve thought that from Iloilo City (Philippines), four young men will have gathered and created something that made a buzz from the local music scene? Fellow gig-goers and musically-inclined individuals gather on most weekends at certain local spots just to have a listen (and some sight as well) on one of Iloilo’s rising bands. While most bands these days usually do covers of their favorite bands, this group prefers to make good compositions and perform them --even better. Now enough of the hulabaloos. Let’s get the ball rolling.

A project band, which was formed last May 2008, each of them came from different bands in the Iloilo music scene such as Driveletter, Pigstomp, Incident Report, & Monsterkill (with different genres as well). At first glance, one may somehow have a slight notion of this group that plays “Pogi Rock” (what is Pogi Rock, anyway?) probably because they look.. good (and yeah, pogi). On a saner note, its music sounds like a mixture of some Jazz, Ambient, Hiphop, Bossanova, Hardcore, Electronica and everything that goes around.

Having decided to finally push through with the making of the album, the group has encountered a lot of challenges. Unsigned, unlabeled, and with Kewpee (on vocals) on leave for a while, these didn’t stop Nescel (on guitars), Stephen (on bass), Paolo (on drums), and Benjo (current vocals) from doing what they love --to create and share music, with love that is. Having coined the term the “Love Beat”, the group’s passion for music carries on to spread the so-called beat not only to its family and friends, but as well as to its growing number of fans and supporters.

Putting the fun into function, this group includes a variey of interests --ranging from skateboards, longboards, football, swimming, pizza trips, barbeque parties, video blogs, skype-ing, facebook-ing, dj jolan, dj nilfert, videoke, flying kites, wall doodles, photography, movie marathons, humanitarian causes, social awareness, soundtrips and other regular hobbies that happy and real young men usually prefer.

Now this is what The Liberty Jam is; with its edgy guitar riffs, pensive (and somehow playful) lyrics, catchy drum beats, and rhythmic melodies, it can make one go dancing such as in Deep City Lights, expressing sensuality in Fernando, or swaying and musing over love in Just Like, and can leave one go on an LSS trip. Just like that.

Have a listen on their latest single, Don’t Stop at http://www.purevolume.com/thelibertyjam. For more information, comments, and/or suggestions you may feel free to e-mail them on thelibertyjam@gmail.com. You may also wanna check out their fan page in Facebook. Just key in The Liberty Jam and feel the Love Beat. =)

Camille Pours Heart Out about TLJ.

"What I like most about their songs is that they are something that I can relate to.

It’s a different feeling when you listen to them, it is somewhat magical."

I just can't get enough of singing liberty jam's songs. Even my mom

knows the lyrics of “Don’t stop.” Their songs gives me a "kilig" effect each time

I listen to them. There are times that their songs just kept ringing in my head.

What I like most about their songs is that they are something that I can relate to.

It’s a different feeling when you listen to them, it is somewhat magical.

Underneath these floaty, idyllic lyrics are the goofy and lovable boys of ofcourse, the liberty jam!

From my point of view as a music fan, TLJ will surely hit the airwaves as soon as they release their album.

The band scene in our country is jam-packed nowadays, many bands come and go but with all the same sound.

So if you want to try to listen to something new with a touch of jazz, ambient and electronica music,

I prefer you to listen to TLJ's songs and feel the LOVE BEAT.

Makay Robles' Testimonial for TLJ

Today, everyone in the world's in a band. Now, I'm more amazed by male ballet dancers and female pilots than I'm amazed with the modern "musicians"...until I heard The Liberty Jam.
They're probably just another band in the scene...

But really, there's more.

In an era where everyone seems to be in a band, had been in a band, or wants to be in a band, being original is a struggle. The Liberty Jam is lucky to have found their niche. The band's sound is a unique blend of originality and commercial tangibility. Four different individuals of diverse musical prefrences finding a common ground in what the band payfully call "Ilonggocore" living up to the Ilonggo image of being sweet and amiable...PERO ROCK.

The band is so passion-driven that nothing became an issue for the love of playing music. Time constraint and even the temporary absence of their frontman Kewpee did not stop the band from spreading the love beat (Benjo, a very good friend of the band's fills in for Kewpee during local gigs). Another sign of overflowing passion for music is their upcoming, independently produced self-titled album, the bi-product of hardwork and perseverance.

The Liberty Jam is lucky to have found their niche. The band's sound is a unique blend of originality and commercial tangibility.

Nescel, Stepehen, Paolo and Kewpee are ordinary individuals with extraordinary musical prowess. I'm not just saying this because I'm friends with the four (plus one for Benjo), but how they can make a very good number of concert goers and fellow musicians bop/slam/dance/sing along to their songs is something else.

And that, my friends is how I know The Liberty Jam.

See/hear for yourself.
